Faded / Discoloured Concrete
The surface looks washed out. You might notice dark patches where rainwater pools, right next to bright, bleached areas that sit in the direct Queensland sun all day long without any shade.

Common causes
- Constant exposure to UV rays from the Queensland sun fading the pigments
- Uneven application of colour hardeners or oxides during the original pour
- Weathering wearing away the thin coloured layer of older stencilled concrete
- Water absorption leaching minerals to the surface, creating patchy white stains
What it may mean
This is a cosmetic issue. It does not impact the structural strength of your slab. However, a faded, blotchy driveway or patio can make an otherwise beautifully maintained home look neglected and dated to anyone standing out on the street looking at it.
What Atlas may do
We clean the slab first. Then we can apply a high-quality tinted sealer to restore the original shade, or we can lay down a polymer-modified resurfacing overlay if you want a completely fresh colour.
When to get it checked
An assessment helps determine whether a simple clean and seal will bring the colour back, or if a full resurfacing overlay is needed.
