Worn / Damaged Concrete
It feels rough. You might see deep surface pitting or larger sections where the top concrete skin has flaked away entirely to reveal the raw aggregate stone sitting underneath.

Common causes
- Poor finishing or excess water added during the original pour
- Heavy wear from vehicles or abrasive cleaning over several decades
- Spalling caused by moisture rusting the steel reinforcing mesh
- Chemical damage from harsh pool acids or cleaning agents
What it may mean
Pitting is cosmetic. However, if the damage is caused by rusted steel reinforcing mesh expanding deep inside the slab, it is a serious structural issue called concrete cancer that needs urgent repair.
What Atlas may do
We grind cosmetic wear back and apply high-strength repair compounds to fill the pits before sealing. For concrete cancer, we must cut out the damaged concrete and treat the rusted reinforcing steel before we can pour a new section of concrete to rebuild the slab.
When to get it checked
You should get an assessment immediately if you see rust stains weeping from cracks, or if large chunks of concrete are flaking off to expose rusty steel.

We fix them properly. We use a specialized grinder to open up the crack and clear the dust before injecting high-strength epoxy resin or polymer fillers deep into the structural gap. Our repairs hold tight.
